what speakers are considered the best?
I was blown away by Focal Dome system. I have not heard anything close. I have listened to definitive(just expensive plastic in my book), and all the ‘ribbon’ speakers. You name it I heard it. Should I take the plunge and pay 2500.00 for these? What would be better that is cheaper (please, if one more BBuy assoc. tells me to buy Klipsch Quintet, I will burst-they are really bad)? I realize that the receiver is important, so I know I am choosing a yamaha 765 for sure. My wife does not like the price on the ZFocal domes, but the way I see it, I am not looking to buy the 45,0000 dollar Utopias. thx
Oh, I like Klipsch, just not this years quintet, there satellite speakers have really gone down the drain. I like focal because of the sound. It is no wonder they are both in Dolby’s reference theater and Dts’ as well. I am just looking for a cheaper alternative, but I guess so far there is not one.
Speaker sound is a very personal objective.The best speakers are the ones that give you the least “listening fatigue”, irrespective of their operating principle. I personally like British speakers because in general, they have a “neutral sound”, meaning they have a flat frequency response over the audible range. But this is my opinion only. You may dislike their sound in favour of a more “coloured” sound.
